Bosch BMP280-based atmospheric pressure and temperature sensor module, compatible with 3.3V development boards, designed for accurate and stable measurements in electronic applications. The sensor measures atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature (does not measure humidity), offers I2C and SPI communication, low power consumption, compact size and excellent compatibility with Arduino, ESP32 and other development boards.
The module operates at 3.3V logic level, allows I2C address selection via the SDO pin (by default it is connected to the internal pull-up resistor) and can be used directly in I2C mode without connecting the CSB pin, due to the default configuration of the board.
For SPI communication, the module changes the pin assignments, SCL becomes SPI clock, SDA becomes MOSI, SDO becomes MISO and CSB becomes Chip Select. An essential condition for SPI for the BMP280 to operate in SPI mode, the CSB pin must be connected to a GPIO pin of the board and controlled from the code (CSB must be pulled LOW to select the sensor). If CSB remains HIGH, the sensor enters I2C mode.

Use:
Attention! We recommend using a logic level converter if used with 5V boards!
The module connects to the development board using the I2C or SPI interface, depending on the application.
In I2C mode, the CSB pin does not need to be connected, as it is already internally pulled HIGH, which automatically enables I2C communication. Only VCC, GND, SDA and SCL connections are required.
The default I2C address is 0x76, and if the sensor is not detected on the bus, it can be changed to 0x77 by connecting the SDO pin to 3.3V. For quick testing and configuration, it is recommended to use example 2 from the Sparkfun library, the one dedicated to selecting the I2C address. ESP32 works natively at 3.3V and does not require a logic level converter, but for 5V development boards it is mandatory to use a logic level converter to protect the sensor.
SPI connection can be useful when it is necessary to use multiple sensors, without limiting I2C addresses.
