Magnetic induction angle sensor module, AS5600, non-contact, ideal for precise rotation measurement applications, compatible with a voltage of 3.3VDC.
It features a variety of output modes such as IIC, PWM, and analog voltage, making it suitable for a wide range of projects.
It is normally used in motors to establish the speed of rotation of the shaft, by using the principle of magnetic induction.
The package also includes a permanent neodymium magnet that can be used with the module.
The DIR pin of the module is used to set the direction of rotation, depending on whether it is connected to GND or VCC.
The magnet is detected by the IC at a distance of up to 3mm (or more, depending on the strength of the magnet) but be careful, the magnetic field must be axial, meaning the magnetic field lines must be perpendicular to the sensor.
Specifications:
Supply voltage: 3.3V
Logic voltage: 3.3V (use logic level converter with 5V boards)
Output: PWM, Analog Voltage, IIC
Integrated: AS5600
Measuring distance: 0.5 – 3mm
Mounting type: axial magnetic field
Dimensions mm: 23 x 23mm
Pinout:
Pine | Function | Details |
VCC | feeding | Connects to 3.3V |
GND | Mass | Connects to GND (common ground) |
OUT | Data output | Can operate as PWM or analog voltage (0 - 3.3V) |
DIR | Rotation direction | Definition of the direction of angle increase: GND = increases CW , VCC = decreases CW |
SCL | I2C clock | Clock line for I²C interface |
SDA | I2C data | Data line for I²C interface |
GPO | Mode selection | Internal pull-up ; tied to GND enters programming mode B |
Use:
The module requires a voltage of 3.3V for operation, both logic and power. Do not supply with 5V, this module is only compatible with 3.3VDC! If you use the IIC/I2C interface
Configure the desired output (IIC, PWM or analog voltage) according to the needs of the application, by connecting to the relevant pins.
- For I2C, use the SCL and SDA pins. Use a logic level converter if you are using 5V boards.
AS5600 sensor | Microcontroller (ex: Arduino, ESP32) |
VCC | 3.3V |
GND | GND |
SCL | SCL (ex: A5 on Arduino) |
SDA | SDA (ex: A4 to Arduino) |
OUT | Not connected (not required) |
DIR | GND or VCC (direction setting) |
GPO | OFFLINE |
- For PWM or Analog use the OUT pin
AS5600 sensor | microcontroller |
VCC | 3.3V |
GND | GND |
OUT (Analog or Digital | Digital pin (e.g. D3 Arduino) Analog pin (e.g. A0 Arduino) |
DIR | GND or VCC (direction setting) |
SCL | OFFLINE |
SDA | OFFLINE |
GPO | OFFLINE |
Position the supplied magnet in the measuring axis for correct angle detection.
Set the DIR pin to define the value increase or decrease depending on rotation, by connecting it to GND or VCC, according to the table above. Connected to ground, the value increases clockwise. Connected to VCC, the value decreases clockwise.
