The GC0308-Camera module is a compact and high-performance solution, designed for applications that require close-range image capture and operation in low-light conditions or even total darkness.

With a resolution of 0.3 megapixels (VGA, 320 x 240 pixels) and an 80° viewing angle, the module integrates a macro lens with 4 optical elements (F/No 2.8, EFL 2.6 mm), 850 nm IR LEDs for night visibility, and a dedicated optical filter for rendering black-and-white images in darkness. A frame rate of up to 120 fps makes it suitable for real-time applications where image fluidity is essential.

The module is ideal for access control systems with facial recognition, QR code readers, baby monitoring devices, and portable IoT devices. The USB 2.0 interface with UVC (USB Video Class) support allows plug-and-play use on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android 4.0+, without installing additional drivers.

Thanks to its reduced dimensions (25 x 12 x 6 mm), low power consumption (under 500 mW), and wide operating temperature range (-30 ~ 70°C), the module can be easily integrated into embedded projects or any system with a USB Host port.

Usage:

Insert the module’s USB-A plug into a free USB port on the computer or on the board with USB Host support.

Wait for the device to be automatically detected. On systems with UVC support (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android 4.0+), the camera is recognized without additional drivers.

Open a camera-compatible application (e.g. Camera in Windows, Cheese on Linux, or any application that accesses video devices).

Select the GC0308 camera from the list of available devices, if multiple cameras are connected.

For use in darkness, the IR LEDs activate automatically when ambient light is insufficient.

On Linux, you can check the module detection with the command v4l2-ctl --list-devices in the terminal.

In OpenCV or Python applications (on Raspberry Pi or PC), access the camera using the corresponding index (e.g. cv2.VideoCapture(0)).
