The I2C expansion module is a practical solution for projects where it is necessary to connect multiple I2C sensors or actuators to a single microcontroller. It functions as a compact hub that distributes the SDA and SCL lines to 10 output channels (different I2C addresses), significantly simplifying wiring and connection organization. It is ideal for rapid development, testing, and prototyping, especially in applications based on Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi Pico, or other boards compatible with the I2C bus.

The module allows simultaneous connection of up to 10 I2C devices through standard 2.54 mm pins, without the need for direct soldering or using an additional breadboard. The operating voltage from 3.3 to 5V makes it suitable for a wide range of embedded systems and electronic projects. Due to its compact format and simple connections, this module is very useful in automation, monitoring, robotics, and educational electronics projects.

Practically, the input signals are sent in parallel to all 10 outputs. This means that all connected modules share the same I2C bus. This module only distributes the SCL and SDA lines to all ports. It does not select channels, switch between devices, or change I2C addresses. It is only useful for easier and neater connection.

You can connect multiple I2C sensors in the same place, but only if each sensor has a different I2C address and the bus is not electrically overloaded.

Usage:

1. Connect the module input pins to the microcontroller as follows:

2. Connect I2C devices to the outputs:

After powering up, connect the I2C sensors or modules to the hub’s output ports. The module replicates the SDA and SCL signals on each channel, allowing a neater and faster connection of multiple I2C devices in the same project.

The sensors or modules will function only if the I2C addresses are different. To connect multiple devices with the same address, a multiplexer is required.
