Ideal for monitoring soil moisture in Arduino projects or irrigation automation, this capacitive sensor offers stable and durable measurement, without exposed metal electrodes. It has an analog output proportional to humidity, operates at 3.3-5V, low consumption of approximately 5mA and a compact 3-pin format, easy to integrate into assemblies.

Soil Sensor Capacitive hygrometer for measuring soil moisture.
The analog output varies depending on the supply voltage. A dry ground will transmit a voltage as close as possible to the supply voltage on the analog pin. Do not use the sensor powered at 5VDC on boards that work at 3.3VDC. The analog output will exceed the 3.3V threshold. In use with 3.3V boards powered by 3.3VDC.
For operation exclusively on 3.3V, replace the resistor in U2 with a 3.3VDC voltage converter.
This module is recommended for use in a practical and long-term project due to the lack of exposed metal elements. Using the usual sensor leads to corrosion of the elements due to the reaction of the metal with moisture when the current is passed. The module eliminates this problem.
The module components are not waterproof. It is recommended to isolate the electrical components in case of contact with water or high humidity.

Am luat 4 senzori stiind specificul lor problematic de a functiona, dar s-a dovedit a fi func'ional chiar primul care l-am scos din cutie. Restul nu le-am testat.
Am cumparat 2 bucati. Erau nefunctionale. Dupa niste sapaturi pe net am aflat ca au o defectiune de fabricatie: lipseste o conexiune pe PCB, si anume traseul care conecteaza rezistenta de 1M la masa. Unul dintre module mai avea 2 lipituri defecte. Dupa reparatie functioneaza OK. Recomand numai celor care se aventureaza pentru astfel de interventii.
