This sensor works at a logic voltage of 3.3V, which is why it is necessary to use a logic level converter if you use 5V microcontrollers.
This sensor can be used to detect light intensity but also proximity to objects (similar to the proximity sensor used by mobile phones).
There is the possibility to put the sensor in the Low Power state for low consumption between measurements.
