This digital frequency meter is a compact, precise, and easy-to-use measuring instrument designed for measuring the frequencies of electrical and radio signals over a wide range. It is ideal for displaying transmitter frequencies, checking communication equipment, and performing conventional frequency measurements, making it a very good choice for radio enthusiasts, electronics, and RF applications.

The module is based on the PIC16F648A microcontroller and uses a 13.000 MHz VC-TCXO reference oscillator with a stability of ±2.5 ppm for safe and reliable measurements. It features a digital display with 8 high-brightness red LED digits, with 8 brightness levels, so values can be easily read under different lighting conditions. Thanks to automatic channel selection, the possibility of setting IF, and configurable update times, this frequency meter offers high flexibility in use and precise results on both the Low and High channels.

The compact construction, low power consumption, and compatibility with power supplies between 9 and 15 VDC make it suitable for integration into various projects or test benches. The included plastic case helps protect the module, and easy access to functions through the SET and UP buttons allows quick configuration of operating parameters.

The module comes with an acrylic case.

Usage:

The module is powered through the DC IN connector with a voltage between 9 and 15 VDC, respecting polarity. After connecting the power source, the device starts automatically. The RF signal to be measured is applied to the RF IN input using the cables included in the package. For correct operation, the signal amplitude must exceed the sensitivity thresholds corresponding to the frequency range used.

The SET button is used to navigate through configuration modes such as gate time, channel selection, IF settings, and brightness. The UP button allows changing the values in the selected menu. For frequencies below 60 MHz, the Low channel is recommended, and for frequencies above 60 MHz, the High channel. In Auto mode, the device selects the channel based on the detected frequency. Near the 60 MHz threshold, especially for signals with low amplitude, manual selection of the High channel is recommended for more stable results.

For maximum accuracy, it is recommended to use the 1.0 s gate time. For quick adjustments or dynamic monitoring, 0.01 s or 0.1 s times can be used. The case must be properly mounted to protect the module and avoid board damage.

Channel Selection:

Low Channel: for frequencies below 60 MHz

High Channel: for frequencies above 20 MHz (recommended for signals over 60 MHz)

Auto Channel: automatic selection based on detected frequency (threshold ~60 MHz)

Warning! For signals near the 60 MHz threshold, if the amplitude is low, manually select the High channel to ensure correct measurements.

 

Usage Recommendations:

For maximum accuracy, use the 1.0 s gate time.

For fast tracking or adjustments, use gate times of 0.01 or 0.1 s.

The plastic case provides protection for the module; ensure it is correctly assembled to prevent damage to the exposed PCB.
