It can detect up to a distance of 5m, depending on the type of surface and its shape.
It can also be used for detection through thin non-metallic surfaces.
It features a red LED that lights up when a metal object is near.
The sensor is of the Normally Open type: the supply voltage will be present on the signal wire if there is no metal surface in contact. The voltage will drop to almost 0 in the presence of contact with a metal surface.
