Aluminum radiator I-50, SSR relays, 10–25A, DIN rail

Ensures efficient cooling of single-phase 10-25A SSR relays, quickly absorbing heat and dissipating it passively through the fins, for stable operation and a longer service life. It mounts directly on the relay with a 49 mm attachment, has a 60x50 mm contact plate, and is easily fixed on a 35 mm DIN rail or on a panel, with a lightweight aluminum construction.

The I-50 aluminum heatsink is intended for single-phase SSR semiconductor relays with an operating current between 10 and 25A. It absorbs the heat released by the relay during switching and transfers it to the air through the fins of the profile, keeping the junction temperature within safe limits.

A semiconductor relay dissipates power even when it is conducting, because a voltage drop remains across the switching element. Without a heatsink, this heat builds up inside the housing and shortens the relay’s service life or causes it to fail. The relay is mounted directly on the flat surface at the top of the heatsink, in two threaded holes spaced 49mm apart, and the contact between the two surfaces ensures thermal transfer.

The top mounting plate measures 60 x 50 mm and covers the usual base of SSR relays in standard housing, such as SSR-10DA, SSR-25DA or equivalent. The finned profile is 50mm high, and at the base there are two side feet with cutouts, bringing the total width to 80mm. The feet are C-shaped and allow direct mounting on a 35mm DIN rail, with the heatsink placed transversely over the rail, without additional accessories. Alternatively, the cutouts in the feet allow fastening with screws directly to the electrical cabinet panel. The all-aluminum construction ensures good thermal conductivity and low weight, and cooling is passive, without a fan or power supply.

The heatsink is a passive mechanical accessory and has no electrical connections of its own, being compatible with any installation that uses a single-phase SSR relay as long as the relay respects the 49mm distance between the mounting holes. The heatsink size is chosen according to the relay power.

As a product made by extrusion and cutting, the heatsink may show minor cosmetic imperfections resulting from the manufacturing process or transport, such as slightly bent side feet, machining marks on the fins, fine burrs on the edges, or superficial scratches. These do not affect functionality or heat dissipation capacity. The only aspect that matters for performance is that the relay’s flat mounting surface is clean and straight, and slightly deformed feet can be straightened manually before fastening.

Warning: SSR relays are usually used for switching loads powered at 220VAC. All mounting and inspection work must be carried out only with the installation disconnected from the mains. Even after disconnection, the heatsink and relay may remain hot. Work on mains circuits must be performed by qualified personnel.

Use:

Before installation, check that the distance between your relay’s holes matches the heatsink’s 49mm, since there are SSR variants with different hole spacing.

Clean the contact surface of the heatsink and the relay base from dust, oil, or machining marks. Remove any fine burrs left from cutting.

Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste between the relay and the heatsink, because air trapped between the two surfaces greatly reduces heat transfer.

Fasten the relay to the flat surface of the heatsink with the provided screws, tightening the two screws alternately for even pressure. Do not overtighten, so as not to crack the relay housing.

If the side feet are slightly bent during transport, straighten them manually before mounting the assembly, for stable placement on the rail or panel.

For DIN rail mounting, place the heatsink transversely over the 35mm rail and push it until the C-shaped side profiles grip the rail edges. For panel mounting, use the cutouts in the feet and fasten with two screws.

Mount the assembly so that the fins are oriented vertically and allow free air circulation. Leave at least 20-30mm of free space above and below the heatsink.

Make the electrical connections to the relay only with the installation disconnected from the mains and observe the markings for the control input and power output.

Power up the assembly and check the heatsink temperature during operation. A temperature that allows brief contact with the hand indicates proper cooling.

In closed electrical cabinets or at loads close to the upper limit of the range, add a fan, because passive cooling may become insufficient.

Clean the fins periodically from dust, as deposits significantly reduce cooling efficiency.
