Peltier cell SP1848-27145, 40mm, 12V
Compact thermoelectric module for recovering energy from heat sources at low temperatures, transforming the temperature difference into current through the Seebeck effect. Made of bismuth telluride, size 40x40x3.6 mm, operates between -60 and 125C and can generate up to 4.8V at deltaT 100C. Simple connection via red plus and black minus wires, scalable in series-parallel for higher power.

The SP1848-27145 SA thermoelectric Peltier module uses the Seebeck effect to convert temperature differences into electrical energy or for cooling by the Peltier effect when a 12VDC voltage is applied. It is ideal for energy recovery applications from low temperature heat sources, being a compact and efficient device, made of bismuth telluride.
Although it can be connected to a 12V power supply with up to 6A to function as a cooling device, this use is NOT RECOMMENDED due to low efficiency in this mode.
The device operates optimally in an environment ranging from -60°C to 125°C, generating voltages up to 4.8V under ideal conditions, with a temperature difference of 100°C. For increased performance, multiple units can be connected in series-parallel.
The cooling effect is given on the inscribed surface (exothermic surface) and the surface free from inscriptions is the one that heats up (endothermic).
CAUTION! When used as a cooler, the Peltier Cell will burn out when the hot surface cannot be effectively dissipated. The module creates a temperature difference between the surfaces, which requires a large radiator on the hot side. Overheating the cell will cause it to FAIL. Supply current within the heat dissipation capacity.
WE RECOMMEND USING IT EXCLUSIVELY AS A POWER GENERATOR, NOT AS A COOLER!
Thermo-electric parameters:
Thermo-electromotive force (α): >190 μV/°C
Electrical conductivity (σ): 850–1250 Ω⁻¹·cm⁻¹
Thermal conductivity (K): 15–16×10⁻³ W/°C·cm
Factor of merit (Z): 2.5–3.0×10⁻³ W/°C
Specifications:
Product model: SP1848-27145 SA
Supply voltage: 12VDC
Maximum allowed current: 6A, with optimal heat dissipation
Operating principle: Seebeck effect
Type: Peltier Cell
Active material: Bismuth telluride
Operating environment: -60°C to 125°C
Red wire: Positive pole
Black wire: Negative pole
Dimensions: 40mm x 40mm x 3.6mm
Use:
Attach the unlabeled side (without text) to the hot (endothermic) surface.
The part with inscriptions is fixed on the cold (exothermic) surface.
Connect the red wire to the positive pole and the black wire to the negative pole of the consuming device if used as a generator. Used as a cooler (NOT RECOMMENDED), connect the red wire to the positive pole and the black wire to the negative pole of the 12VDC power supply. This source must be capable of operating in Constant Current mode. Set the current in such a way that the cold side of the cell does not heat up.
Provide a temperature difference between the two faces to generate electricity.
Avoid use for active cooling, even if technically possible. This Peltier is NOT suitable for cooling applications, even if technically capable.
Performance depending on temperature difference:
| Temperature difference | Voltage (V) | Generated current (mA) |
|---|---|---|
| 20°C | 0.97V | 225mA |
| 40°C | 1.8V | 368mA |
| 60°C | 2.4V | 469mA |
| 80°C | 3.6V | 558mA |
| 100°C | 4.8V | 669mA |
Values are estimates and may vary depending on wiring and circuit losses.
WE RECOMMEND USING IT EXCLUSIVELY AS A POWER GENERATOR, NOT AS A COOLER!
