The LCR-T4 tester is a compact and practical instrument for quick identification and measurement of electronic components, useful both in service and on the workbench. It can measure inductors, capacitors, resistors, potentiometers, diodes, dual diodes, MOSFETs, NPN and PNP transistors with display, SCRs, regulators, and ESR, making it suitable for diagnostics, component sorting, and quick checks before assembly.

The 128x64 LCD display with backlight offers good visibility even in low light, and the measurement time is usually about 2 seconds, except for large capacitors where the measurement can take up to 1 minute.

The tester is powered by a 9V battery, and for correct results it is important that the supply voltage is sufficient, as it does not work properly with a nearly discharged battery.

The LCR-T4 tester is suitable for measuring the following components:

Attention: Before measuring capacitors, they must be discharged.

The tester has a protective film on the screen which can be removed if it shows fine scratches and signs of wear due to the manufacturing process.

The tester does not work with a nearly discharged battery. Check for at least 9V on the power supply.

Usage:

Connect the 9V battery to the tester, with special attention to polarity. Connecting with reverse polarity, even briefly, can damage the module!

Insert the component into the tester socket according to the available pins and ensure good contact.

Start the measurement, and the tester will automatically detect the component type and display the relevant parameters.

For large capacitors, wait for the measurement to complete; the time can be up to 1 minute.

Before measuring capacitors, discharge them completely to avoid measurement errors and to protect the tester.

Check the power supply before use and ensure at least 9V at the input; the tester may malfunction if the battery is nearly discharged.

 

Socket:

The pins are grouped into 3 identical zones: 1, 2, 3.

Any 2-pin component is placed between two groups, for example between 1 and 2, or between 1 and 3, or between 2 and 3.

Any 3-pin component is placed on 1, 2, 3 with one pin on each.

Orientation does not matter for many components, as the tester automatically identifies and tells you which pin is which after measuring.

 
Connecting 2-pin components:

Place the component between two numbers, the rest remains free.

Resistor:

Connection: between 1 and 2, or 1 and 3, or 2 and 3.

Display: resistance value.

Capacitor:

Connection: between 1 and 2, or 1 and 3, or 2 and 3.

If it is electrolytic, polarity does not need to be guessed; the tester detects it and displays + and -.

Attention: the capacitor must be discharged beforehand.

Inductor:

Connection: between any 2 pins.

Display: inductance and series resistance depending on firmware model.

Diode:

Connection: between any 2 pins.

Display: indicates which is anode and cathode and the threshold voltage.

 

Connecting 3-pin components:

Place each pin in 1, 2, 3, one on each, in any order.

NPN or PNP Transistor:

Connection: pins on 1, 2, 3 in any order

Display: NPN or PNP type and identification of E, B, C pins

MOSFET:

Connection: pins on 1, 2, 3 in any order

Display: MOSFET type and pin identification G, D, S, sometimes also internal diode

SCR or triac:

Connection: pins on 1, 2, 3 in any order

Display: terminal identification depending on detected component
