The step-down module based on the XL4016 integrated circuit is a high-performance buck power supply designed for industrial, electronic, and hobby applications that require a stable and adjustable output voltage. Designed to accept an input voltage between 5V and 30VDC, the module can deliver an adjustable output voltage between 0.8V and 30VDC via a dedicated potentiometer mounted on the board.
The module provides an output current of up to 12A peak, with a recommended continuous use current of up to 8A, and a maximum power of 100W. Conversion efficiency reaches 95%, thanks to the synchronous topology and quality components used in its construction. The 300KHz operating frequency ensures low ripple and good output voltage stability. The operating temperature range is between -40 and +85 degrees C, making it suitable for demanding industrial environments as well. The module includes short-circuit protection by current limiting at 14A and overheating protection by automatic output voltage reduction. It does not include reverse polarity protection, so correct wiring is mandatory.
On the back of the module, there are 3 pads that allow activation of a contact dedicated to an external cooling fan. By soldering the middle pad to either the left or the right pad (strictly one of them, never both simultaneously, otherwise the module will short circuit), you select whether the voltage supplied to the fan pins is the input voltage or the output voltage of the module, offering flexibility in active cooling of the system.
The module is compatible with any system that requires an adjustable voltage source, including projects based on Arduino, ESP32, STM32, or other development platforms that operate within the supported voltage range.

Usage:
Check the polarity of the power supply before connecting. The module does not have reverse polarity protection.
Connect the input voltage (5 - 30VDC) to the terminals marked IN, respecting the polarity (+ and -).
Before connecting the load, turn the voltage adjustment potentiometer and set the desired output voltage by measuring with a multimeter at the OUT terminals without any load connected.
Connect the load to the OUT terminals after the voltage has been set correctly.
If you want active cooling with a fan, solder the middle pad on the back of the module to the left pad (for input voltage on the fan pins) or to the right pad (for output voltage). Do not solder the middle pad simultaneously to both side pads.
For high current applications (over 8A), provide additional cooling for the module and do not exceed the recommended current for long-term use.
Do not exceed the maximum input voltage of 30VDC and do not connect loads that demand more than 12A.
