It works on the principle of expansion and contraction of the working fluid in response to temperature changes, operating a switch to maintain constant temperature.
The liquid is integrated into the tube connecting the probe to the regulator, which is why it is essential that it is not deformed in such a way as to restrict the fluid inside. Repeated deformations can also lead to perforation of the tube and, implicitly, to the thermostat ceasing to function.
