The 0.5MHz-470MHz RF signal generator is a compact and versatile test instrument, designed for troubleshooting and calibrating portable radio stations (walkie-talkies) with narrow FM modulation. Its ABS body houses a circuit capable of generating RF signals between 0.5MHz and 470MHz, with an adjustable output power between -70dBm and -132dBm, placing it in the category of microvolt-level sources, suitable exclusively for receiver sensitivity testing.

The device integrates internal audio modulation at 800Hz, allowing the simulation of a voice signal in laboratory or field conditions. The frequency is entered directly using the numeric keys with 7-digit resolution (e.g., 439012.5KHz is entered as 4390125), and analog subtone tones can be set between 50.0Hz and 280.0Hz, with the option to cycle through 105 groups of digital subtone tones. The modulation tone is adjustable between 0 and 3KHz, with 0 disabling modulation. Navigation between parameters is done with the F1 key, deleting an incorrect digit with F2, enabling/disabling the output signal with F3, and audio modulation with F4.

Power is supplied by an external 8V-12V DC source (Power supply not included!).

Warning: RF signal input is strictly prohibited. Applying any signal above 0dBm to the RF output will irreversibly damage the device. Faults caused by a signal applied to the input are not covered by warranty.

The generator DOES NOT COME WITH A POWER SUPPLY or PROBE!

To power it, a 12VDC source together with a male 5.5x2.1mm plug is required (not included).

Usage:

Connect a DC power supply between 8V and 12V to the corresponding connector on the device.

Press the power button and wait for the display to initialize.

Press F1 to move the cursor to the desired field: frequency, output power, subtone, or modulation tone.

Enter the desired frequency with 7 digits using the numeric keys (e.g., for 439.0125MHz enter 4390125).

Use the up/down keys to adjust the selected field value in steps.

Press F3 to enable or disable the RF output signal.

Press F4 to enable or disable the 800Hz audio modulation.

To set an analog subtone, enter 4 digits (e.g., for 88.5Hz enter 0885).

For digital subtone tones, enter the 3-digit code and press F3 (e.g., for code 023, press 0, 2, 3, then F3). Press F2 to switch between the I and N modes of the digital subtone.

To save the current frequency as the step frequency, hold F3 for a long press while the cursor is on the frequency field.

For quick entry of an integer frequency, enter the digits and press F3 (e.g., 4, 3, F3 = 430.0000MHz).

Entering 0 for the modulation tone or subtone disables that function.

After completing the test, disable the output signal with F3, then disconnect the power supply.

Never apply an external signal to the device’s RF output. The maximum allowed level is strictly below 0dBm.
