Powerbank Module intended for use with Arduino, Raspberry, and other development boards, allowing the connection of up to 2 18650 cells in PARALLEL. It features output voltages of 3V and 5V, making it compatible with most development boards.

The 3V and 5V connections are made through expansion pins spaced at 2.54mm. For each output, there are 5 outputs of this type. A USB Female output is also added, allowing the charging of electronics or powering programming boards via USB cable.

The module includes a battery charging control IC with protection against overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, and charging timeout. Charging is done through one of the dedicated ports, MicroUSB or USB Type-C.

The module supports up to 2 cells in parallel (fewer can be used, minimum one cell) to increase the total capacity. Before connecting the cells in parallel, make sure they are at the same charge level! If you connect a charged battery and a discharged one, they will overheat and likely be damaged because the cells will try to equalize between them at a fairly high current.

The module has a series of LEDs indicating the battery charge level. During charging, the LED corresponding to the charge level will blink.

 

Usage:

On the side, there is a button for ON/OFF. Once the 18650 cells are connected, pressing the button is necessary to turn on the module. A long press of the side ON/OFF button turns off the module. This also means that when the batteries are removed from the module, it automatically enters the OFF state and the ON/OFF button must be pressed again to restart the module. When charging, pressing the button is not necessary.

The HOLD function is not guaranteed on this module. For HOLD, the module uses a resistor marked 62 to maintain a consumer always active and thus prevent entering Sleep mode. It is possible that this resistor does not provide the minimum current needed to prevent Sleep mode. If HOLD mode is desired, the resistor must be replaced with a smaller one to increase the current.

 

Important:

- There is no polarity protection! Reversing + with - will burn the IC.

- Removing the cells without turning off the module beforehand may trigger the safety shutdown function. To use the module again, it is necessary to connect it for charging.

- Respect the polarity! With 18650 cells, it is easy to insert the batteries incorrectly. Observe the + and - signs. If the polarity is not respected, the IC will burn!
