CAN communication module, SN65HVD230, compatible with development boards on 3.3V (or 5V with a logic level converter), designed to be used in environments with high interference, offering robust capabilities of transmitting and receiving signals at various rates transfer. This device ensures reliable and efficient communications in vehicle networks and other industrial applications that require a CAN communication protocol.

The module complies with ISO11898 standards, ensuring compatibility with most CAN networks.

It allows the connection of up to 120 nodes in a network, facilitating the expansion and scalability of the system, thanks to the high input impedance.

It can be used in standby mode, with typical consumption of only 370µA, optimizing battery life in battery-powered applications.

It supports transfer rates up to 1 Mb/s, allowing fast and efficient communications.

It offers integrated functions to protect the device in abnormal operating conditions.

It is equipped with protection functions against momentary interference and slope control to reduce radio interference (RFI) and Differential Receiver to eliminate common and electromagnetic interference (EMI), improving the reliability of communications.

The SN65HVD230 module offers three different operating modes: high speed, ramp and standby. The control of these modes is realized through the Rs pin, which, when configured with a variable resistance (0 ~ 100kΩ potentiometer), allows easy selection of the desired mode through a simple hardware configuration.

The typical diagram of a CAN application with the SN65HVD230 illustrates how the CAN controller connects to the Tx output pin of the SN65HVD230 to send data to the CAN network, and the Rx receive pins of the CAN controller are coupled to the R output pin of the SN65HVD230 to receive data. This configuration facilitates the simple integration of the module in CAN systems, allowing the efficient transmission and reception of data in the network.
