Active balance module from Hi BMS, for configuration of Lithium cells in 4S (4 in series). It is compatible with both Lithium-Ion and LiFePo4 batteries.

The balance is an Active one, which means that the current transfer will be made between adjacent cells and not by discharging the accumulators through heat generation. This ensures a balancing current of up to 1A without generating significant heat. The current will automatically pass from the cell with higher voltage to the cell with lower voltage until the equilibrium point is reached (equal voltage).

The maximum current is reached only if there is a sufficient voltage difference between the cells. The lower the voltage difference, the lower the current.

The module offers extra safety in case of overcharging and excessive discharging by the fact that two voltage conditions are necessary for balancing the cells. In this case, the safety voltage is 3.3V, the threshold below which the module will not equalize between cells. This is important because it eliminates the risk of trying to charge a defective cell that has a voltage below the 3.3V threshold.

The module is integrated in a plastic case for additional protection and comes with a 24AWG cable with a 4-pin plug.

An LED is integrated on the module that indicates the balancing process between the cells (Green).

Attention , this is an active balance module, it is NOT a BMS! The module only ensures the balance between the cells. A suitable BMS will be used to protect the cells, the two modules, the BMS and the Balancing Module working together on the same battery.

DO NOT CONNECT THE MODULE UNTIL AFTER FINISHING THE GLUING OF THE WIRES! Check the voltages present at the plug after the plug. The voltage between adjacent terminals MUST NOT EXCEED 4.2VDC, otherwise you will burn the module. After soldering the wires and measuring the voltages, you can connect the plug with wires to the module.

After soldering the wires and measuring the voltages, you can connect the plug with wires to the module.

The Black wire will initially be connected to the general minus of the package (0V), followed by the adjacent wires in turn to the next voltage threshold.
