This serial communication servo driver board is a complete and compact solution, ideal for robotics projects that require precise control of multiple servos simultaneously.

It accepts an input voltage between 6 and 12.6 VDC, which must correspond to the nominal voltage of the servos used.

Communication with the host (computer, Arduino, ESP32, STM32, or any microcontroller with a UART interface) is done via a single serial bus, through a USB Type-C connector or dedicated UART pins. Through this bus, the board can simultaneously control up to 253 serial servos from the ST and SC series, providing the possibility to read real-time information such as the current angle, load, and voltage of each servo.

The servos are powered directly from the source connected to the 5.5 x 2.1 mm DC jack, and a dedicated jumper allows selecting the desired control mode.

The 2.5 mm mounting holes and the compact dimensions of 42 x 33 mm facilitate integrating the board into any project or custom enclosure.

Attention: In UART mode (position A), the connection is made RX – RX and TX – TX (not crossed), according to official Waveshare documentation.

In mode A, the board connects to devices without USB (Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi Zero) via UART pins, with the connection RX – RX and TX – TX. In mode B, the board connects via USB Type-C cable to devices with a USB port (PC, Raspberry Pi 4B, Jetson Orin Nano).

 

Usage:

1. Power the board from a source with the voltage corresponding to the servos used: 7.4 VDC for servos in the STS series (e.g., STS3215) or 9 – 12.6 VDC for servos in the ST series (e.g., ST3215).

2. Make sure the source can supply enough current for all servos connected on the bus.

3. Connect all serial servos in parallel to the 3-pin header (DATA, VCC, GND).

4. Select the desired control mode using the dedicated jumper on the board (position A for UART, position B for USB).

5. Connect the board to the microcontroller (Arduino, ESP32, STM32, etc.) via the UART interface or via the USB Type-C cable to the computer.

6. Upload the appropriate firmware or sketch and initiate serial communication with the servos using the standardized protocol commands.

7. Do not mix servos with different nominal voltages or servos from the ST and SC series on the same bus at the same time.
