Automatic battery charging control module with voltages between 6VDC and 60VDC, with 30A relay with optocoupler, serial communication and charging time control.
This module only makes the connection between the charger and the battery, it does NOT change the voltage and the supply current in any way . The voltage and current on the supply will pass through the relay when it is activated and will directly charge the connected battery.
In order to work, the low voltage at which the module activates the relay and allows charging the battery is set and the high voltage at which the battery is charged, this causes the relay to stop and, implicitly, no longer allows the battery to be charged. The respective voltages are set manually. Optionally, the maximum charging time can also be set, this being a safety option. Once the power supply and battery are set and connected, the battery will charge and discharge continuously between the set voltages.
Important: take into account the voltage drop on the battery and the resistance of the wires when setting the minimum and maximum values. A too small difference between the "charged" voltage and the "discharged" voltage can induce a fast switching on/off behavior of the relay. The same is true if the charging current is too high. Example: If the charge voltage is set to 20V and the discharge voltage to 19V, if when the battery reaches 20V and when the charge is disconnected the voltage instantly reaches 19V, the relay will activate and deactivate in quick cycles.
It supports any type of battery that has voltages between 6 and 60VDC (Lithium, Lead, etc...).
The display shows battery voltage, charging time and battery percentage. The percentage is calculated according to the following formula: Percentage=battery voltage/(HI voltage - LOW voltage) .
If no connected battery is detected, the message NbE will be displayed.
Operation:
- Automatic charge control: The HIGH voltage ( UP ) and the LOW voltage ( dn ) are set. When the battery voltage reaches HIGH, the relay is disconnected. When the battery voltage reaches LOW, the relay is connected and charging takes place.
- Charging time control function: In the settings, apart from "UP" and "dn", there is also a third OP setting for time. It is normally disabled (--:--h) and setting it activates the time function. Once set, when the voltage reaches LOW, charging is allowed and the timer starts the clock. If, while the timer is working, battery voltage>=HIGH , the relay is deactivated and if the OP time is over and battery voltage , the relay is disabled and the H:ER error appears to remind you that the set time has stopped charging.
- Serial communication settings: The module supports serial communication. UART: 9600,8,1 .
UPLOAD message format: Battery voltage + Battery percentage + Charging time + Charging status
Example: 12.0V,020%,00:10,OP
- To start the module, once the voltages are set, press DOWN briefly.
- Short pressing of UP during operation switches between battery percentage and time.
- Short press of SET displays the set parameters.
- Long pressing SET enters the setting mode, then short pressing SET to switch between the set values and pressing UP and DOWN changes the values (long pressing for quick change).
