The audio splitter adapter divides the signal from a 3.5 mm jack port with 4 contacts into two separate paths, one for headphones or speakers and one for the microphone. It is useful when a headset or a pair of headphones with a microphone has two separate 3.5 mm plugs, while the device has a single combined port. The adapter is used with computers, laptops, smartphones, and other audio devices with such a port.
The adapter has a 3.5 mm male plug with 4 contacts at one end, and two 3.5 mm female jacks at the other end, connected by a black cable 14 cm long. The female jacks are color-coded: green for audio output (headphones or speaker) and pink for microphone input.

Usage:
Insert the adapter’s 3.5 mm male plug into the device’s combined headphone and microphone port until it is fully seated.
Connect the headset or speaker plug to the green female jack and the microphone plug to the pink female jack, following the color code.
Do not use the adapter on a computer that has two separate jacks, one for headphones and one for the microphone, because in this case an adapter with the reverse connection is required.
Check that the device and the headset use the same contact assignment for the 4-contact plug, because there are two different standards, CTIA and OMTP. If the microphone does not work, use an adapter with the appropriate standard.
Select the headphone output and microphone input in the device’s sound settings if they are not selected automatically.
For long-term use, avoid sharply bending the cable near the plugs and do not pull on the cable when disconnecting; instead, pull on the plug body.
