The LX-225 is a high-performance servo motor with serial communication, designed for applications requiring precise movement, fast response, and high torque. It features 2 shafts, one being the main drive shaft and the other serving as a support, providing additional mechanical stability during use. This configuration makes it suitable for joints, robotic arms, mobile mechanisms, and other applications where better load support is important. The extended rotation range between 0 and 240 degrees allows its integration into various robotics, automation, mechanical systems, and embedded applications.

The robust construction includes metal gears and an internal housing made from CNC milled aluminum alloy, which contributes to increased mechanical strength, precise operation, and more efficient heat dissipation. The servo motor offers fast response, good positioning accuracy, and high torque of up to 25Kg/cm at 7.4V, making it suitable for more demanding tasks compared to standard servos.

An important advantage of this model is support for TTL UART serial communication at 115200 baud, in half duplex mode, along with real-time feedback for temperature, voltage, and position. This enables advanced control, individual addressing via ID, and continuous operation monitoring. The servo motor is equipped with a dedicated connector for the serial interface, allowing easy integration into compatible applications and secure connections.

The model can be used with Arduino and other development boards, but it does not operate as a classic hobby servo controlled directly via standard PWM signal. Proper operation requires external power supply and control through a compatible serial interface.

This servo motor uses a half duplex TTL UART serial interface and cannot be connected directly as a standard PWM servo. For use with Arduino or other development boards, a separate half duplex compatible adapter board or a dedicated serial bus servo controller is required, as well as an adequate external power source.

Usage:

For proper use, the servo motor must be powered from a stabilized external source with voltage between 4.8 and 8.4VDC. A 2S Li-Ion or LiPo battery pack may be suitable if it falls within the allowed power supply range. Direct powering from Arduino or other development boards is not possible, as they cannot provide the required current under load, especially at startup or stall when consumption can reach up to 4A.

The external power source ground must be connected in common with the controller ground for stable operation and correct commands.

Servo motor control is done via TTL UART serial communication at 115200 baud, in half duplex mode, through the dedicated connector. This model should not be treated as a classic PWM servo. For use with Arduino or other development boards, an interface compatible with this type of serial communication is required.

The serial interface has 3 pins: power, GND, and data signal. The data line is single, half duplex type, used for both transmission and reception on the same pin. There are no separate TX and RX pins as found on a classic UART interface.

Multiple servos can be connected in series on the same serial bus, each having its own ID for individual control, which significantly simplifies wiring in complex applications.

The servo has an internal position control range from 0 to 1000, corresponding to a physical rotation of approximately 0 to 240 degrees. When programming, this ratio must be taken into account to avoid exceeding the mechanical travel. It is recommended to set safe limits in software, especially if the servo is mounted in a mechanical assembly with stops or sensitive components.

Before operation, the servo must be firmly fixed in its mechanical support using appropriate mounting hardware. The main shaft end should be chosen according to the application and mounted correctly, while the secondary support shaft contributes to stability and better load distribution. For optimal results, the load must be positioned so as not to excessively stress the shaft or cause mechanical shocks during movement.

The 2 shafts are especially useful for joints where better mechanical stability and stronger support of the assembly are required.

During operation, it is recommended to avoid keeping the servo motor in a locked position for long periods, as this can increase current consumption and internal temperature. The internal housing made from CNC milled aluminum alloy and metal gears help with more efficient heat dissipation and increased mechanical strength, but for long-term reliability, repeated overloads should be avoided.

For complex applications, the feedback function can be used to continuously check the servo motor’s status. Temperature monitoring helps prevent overheating, voltage reading allows power supply verification, and position feedback is useful to confirm the executed movement. This feature is very important in projects where precision and operational safety matter.

After connection and configuration, it is recommended to test movement at low speed and without heavy load to verify rotation direction, useful range, and overall system response. Only after these checks is final integration into the desired application recommended.
