## Description

84x48 LCD screen with PCD8544 driver, ideal for Arduino projects and other development boards, displays clear text and images on a blue background. Communicates via SPI and operates at 3.3V logic with low consumption, the 1.6 inch size makes it suitable for compact interfaces and portable instrumentation.
LCD display, Nokia 5110, with an 84x48 pixel resolution, compatible with Arduino and other development boards.
It operates on a 3.3V logic level and is capable of displaying both alphanumeric characters and images. To use it together with a 5V development board, a logic level converter to 3.3VDC. is recommended.
NOTE: The power supply voltage on VCC is 3.3VDC. DO NOT power it with 5V!
These displays come from old Nokia 5110 stock, they are not newly manufactured, which is why they may show scratches that do not affect the functionality of the displays.
Specifications:
Supply voltage: 3.3VDC
Current consumption: 6mA
Logic voltage: 3.3VDC
Driver IC: PCD8544
Interface: SPI
Resolution: 84 x 48 pixels
Dimensions: 1.6inch
Color: Blue
Number of pins: 8
Pins:
CE, DC, DIN, CLK, VCC, BL, GND
Usage:
Install from Arduino IDE → Library Manager:
Adafruit PCD8544 Nokia 5110 LCD library
Adafruit GFX Library (installed automatically together with the one above)
WARNING: The logic voltage is 3.3V. Direct connection to the Arduino's 5V digital pins may damage the display over time. For long-term projects, a level shifter or voltage divider resistors are recommended on the CE, DC, DIN, CLK lines.
WARNING: The BL (backlight) pin requires a 330Ω resistor in series. Direct connection without a resistor can destroy the backlight within a few hours of operation.
WARNING: The RST pin must be connected to an Arduino digital pin. If left unconnected, the display will show nothing.

Test code available in the Test sheet.
Check the pin definition in the code: Adafruit_PCD8544 display = Adafruit_PCD8544(13, 11, 9, 10, 8);
Common issues:
Screen lit but blank: most often RST is not connected. Connect RST to D8. If RST is connected correctly, the issue may be too low contrast — increase the value in setContrast() up to 80-85.
Faded or hard-to-read characters: the contrast is too low. Increase the value in setContrast() gradually. Nokia displays from old stock may require different values between 60 and 85.
Completely black screen: the contrast is too high. Decrease the value in setContrast().
Completely off screen, no backlight: check the VCC (3.3V) and GND connections. If the backlight worked before and suddenly went out, the 330Ω resistor on the BL pin is missing or the backlight has burned out (connecting BL directly without a resistor destroys the backlight within a few hours).
Nothing displayed, backlight functional, RST connected: check the SPI connections: DIN to D11, CLK to D13, CE to D10, DC to D9. A single wrong wire or a missing one prevents any display. Check the pin definition: Adafruit_PCD8544 display = Adafruit_PCD8544(13, 11, 9, 10, 8);
