## Description

Synchronous buck controller for power supplies up to 42V, ideal for industrial and automotive applications, offers current mode control with emulated ramp for stability and low noise, programmable frequency 50 kHz–1 MHz, external high/low MOSFET control with adaptive dead-time, includes current limit, soft-start and undervoltage protection.
LM25116 is a synchronous controller designed for step-down applications from a high voltage or a wide variety of sources. The control method is based on current control using an emulated current ramp. Current mode control ensures inherent line feed, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and easy loop compensation. Using an emulated control ramp reduces noise sensitivity of the pulse-width modulation circuit, allowing reliable control of very small duty cycles required in high input voltage applications.
The operating frequency is programmable from 50 kHz to 1 MHz. The LM25116 drives external high-side and low-side power NMOS switches with adaptive dead time control. A user-selectable diode emulation mode allows continuous operation for improved efficiency under light load conditions.
Additional features include a high-voltage bias regulator, automatic switching to external bias for improved efficiency, thermal shutdown, frequency synchronization, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and adjustable line undervoltage lockout. The device is available in a 20-pin HTSSOP package with an exposed pad at the base to assist thermal dissipation.
